Could be. It's funny if you think about it: online support for Blood Dragon ended two years ago and it took Ubisoft until Far Cry 3 itself lost online support to patch out the server connectivity prompt. I'd confirm if this is the case but I'm too lazy to redownload the Ubisoft Connect client and the game on Steam, maybe the OP can confirm.
I just got this game for free from UPlay, and have really looked forward to playing it, only to realize it isn't actually very fun or interesting.
